We are very pleased to announce that Katharine Steeger has joined the Club’s professional staff as its first-ever Membership Director. As the Club has grown over the past several years, both in membership and in the number and types of programs, the need for more focused attention, better communications and quicker responses to the varying needs of our membership has also grown.

As Membership Director, Katherine’s new responsibilities are numerous, and include the reintroduction and ongoing editing and publishing of the Chips newsletter; initiating a membership satisfaction survey, developing and managing a new-member orientation program, serving as the ombudsman for Club members with various questions and issues, maintaining the Club member handbook, initiating and managing a formal Club alumni relations program, and assisting in the design and development of the new Club website, including its private membership portal. This list is by no means exhaustive, and Katharine will also continue to serve in a volunteer capacity as a co-chair of Ice Chips, and the program director for the Club’s Theatre On Ice program.

For those of you who don’t already know Katharine, she has a professional background in fashion sales, marketing, advertising, public relations and special events. Over the last 21 years, Katharine has dedicated herself to volunteering for a variety of organizations. She has held many different positions with the Medfield Girl Scouts, including managing over 500 scouts and adult volunteers. She has been a Fund Chair, Class President and Reunion Chair for her alma mater, Skidmore College.

Importantly Katharine has been a volunteer at the Club since her family joined 5 years ago, including co-chair of Ice Chips and director of the Club’s Theatre On Ice organization. Both of Katharine’s daughters started skating at a very young age, beginning with a Learn to Skate program, participating on a synchronized skating team and eventually training as solo competitive skaters, achieving the senior level in free skate and moves in the field. Her daughters also competed with the Club’s Theatre On Ice Act I of Boston team. Katharine’s knowledge of the sport of figure skating and the Club is rooted in her multi-discipline and program experience, her high-level volunteer responsibilities, and her own experience as a Club member these several years. I cannot think of anyone better suited to pioneer this important, new position with the Club

Katharine’s first day as Membership Director will be Monday, September 26th. Please look for her in her new office by the side of the rink near the engine room as early as October 1st, where she will be available each weekday to meet with members, answer questions and serve as an important Club resource. Katharine will post office hours outside her office so you can plan accordingly if wanting to meet with her in person. Katharine’s Club email will become active on September 26th and will be

I hope you will all join me in welcoming Katharine to the Club in her new professional capacity!
