DESCRIPTION:When: Saturday\, September 24\, 2022\, at 7:00 PM\nWhere: The Skating Club of Boston – West Rink | 750 University Avenue\, Norwood\, MA 02062\nIce Dance International (IDI)\, New England’s premier ice dancing performing arts company\, launches its tour this fall. This is the nonprofit organization’s eighth season. IDI’s new show ‘Grace: The Power of Dance on Ice’\, features ten world-class figure skaters including two-time U.S. Champion Alissa Czisny\, and U.S. Open Champions Kseniya Ponomaryova and Collin Brubaker. \nThe tour runs from September 17 – October 9\, 2022\, at a variety of venues in Maine\, New Hampshire\, Vermont\, New York\, Pennsylvania\, New Jersey\, and Massachusetts. These will be the first ticketed performances since the pandemic began. IDI Founder and Artistic Director Douglas Webster says\, “We have created a new repertoire with an incredibly talented group of skaters. Grace is a theatrical journey on ice with dynamic\, athletic movement that showcases beautiful artistic skating. The choreography and music\, combined with the ability of our powerful skaters\, promises to transport the audience with the hope to provide some peace during these turbulent times.” \nGrace celebrates the art of dance on ice and features works by choreographers from the 2022 Olympic games\, including Benoit Richaud\, Rohene Ward\, and Cindy Stuart\, the leading choreographer for Disney on Ice. DESCRIPTION:Social Ice Dancing is returning to The Skating Club of Boston with events every month from February until May. Come to the Club’s Friday Night Buffet in the Frieling Club Lounge before taking the ice to skate a variety of pattern dances with the Club community. You can come with a partner\, coach\, family and friends\, or just bring yourself! Skaters will switch partners and make sure that everyone gets the opportunity to skate. For this month\, Social Ice Dancing is excited to host the Cinco de Tango on Friday\, May 5th\, from 8:30 PM – 9:50 PM! \nEven if you are not familiar with ice dancing\, we encourage you to try it out. Experienced ice dancers will teach newer skaters the steps to a variety of standard patterns. The preliminary dances are all simple\, forward skating. The patterns are available to review and you’ll find that most experienced dancers are happy for the opportunity to teach interested skaters the discipline of ice dance. \nRegister Today!

SUMMARY:2023 National Showcase
DESCRIPTION:The 2023 National Showcase competition will be held July 31 – August 6\, 2023\, at The Skating Club of Boston. National Showcase is a competition filled with inspiration\, and skaters who qualify are strongly encouraged to participate. With the use of props\, elaborate costumes and theatrical performance\, showcase fuses figure skating with artistic creativity. This event will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of U.S. Figure Skating\, as set forth in the current rulebook\, the Showcase Guidelines\, as well as any pertinent updates that have been posted on the U.S. Figure Skating website.

SUMMARY:2023 Cranberry Open and Cranberry Cup International
DESCRIPTION:The Cranberry Open has an illustrious history of world-class officials and was held for 39 years on Cape Cod as one of the premier figure skating competitions in the country. The competition is permanently moving to Norwood and will be hosted by The Skating Club of Boston. Events will include well balanced\, adult\, Excel and pairs. The Cranberry Cup is an international competition held in conjunction with the Cranberry Open\, for international singles and pairs competitors in junior and senior events.

SUMMARY:Boston Ice Dance Weekend
DESCRIPTION:The Adult Community Activities Committee (ACAC) is very pleased to present the 2nd annual Boston Ice Dance Weekend at The Skating Club of Boston. Co-Chairs for the weekend\, Laura Morrissette and George Blaszczynski\, are enthusiastic social ice dancers who started the revival of social ice dance in the Boston area by organizing and running the Minuteman Ice Dance Weekend for several years. In 2022 they were invited to bring the Boston Ice Dance Weekend back to The Skating Club of Boston. \nThe ACAC is thrilled to welcome everyone to The Skating Club of Boston to skate in both the West Rink and the Tenley E. Albright Performance Center throughout the weekend of activities. Once again\, meals will be created and provided by Executive Chef Mark Flemming and his catering team. Saturday evening will feature the well-known Bo Winiker Band in the Club’s beautiful Frieling Club Lounge.
