The Boston Parks Commissioner Antonia M. Pollack and The Skating Club of Boston President, Joseph Blount will host this year’s official opening of the Boston Common Frog Pond on Thursday, November 18, at 5:30pm.  The rink will open for the 2010-2011 season with a special skating show presented by The Skating Club of Boston and The Skating Club of Boston’s Frog Pond Skating School. The stars of this year’s show include:

  • 2006 Olympian and US National Championship Ladies Silver Medalist, Emily Hughes
  • 2010 Miss Massachusetts and 2004 US National Championship Ice Dancing Bronze Medalist, Loren Galler-Rabinowitz
  • 2009 US National Junior Men’s Champion and Junior World Grand Prix Bronze Medalist, Ross Miner
  • 2010 US National Junior Ladies Silver Medalist and 3-Time International Silver Medalist, Yasmin Siraj
  • 2009 US National Junior Pairs Bronze Medalists and Junior World Bronze Medalists, Marissa Castelli and Simon Schnapir
  • 2010 US National Competitors Team Excel Boston Collegiate Synchronized Skating Team
  • 2010 US National Competitor Harrison Choate

The show will also feature additional local national competitors and teams,  up and coming stars, some of our Skating Club of Boston skaters and Frog Pond Skating School students, as well as our Warrior Frog special needs program skaters.  Special guests include Freddie the Frog, the Boston Bruins Ice Girls, Blades from the Boston Bruins, lacrosse team representatives from the Boston Blazers, the Boston Blazers SPARKS Dance Girls, characters from the Boston Ballet’s Nutcracker and The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby.

The evening’s Master of Ceremonies will be Mr. Dan Weinstein, 1998 and 2002 Olympian speed skater and National Short-Track Speed Skating Champion.  Mr. Weinstein has been an Olympic commentator for NBC for speed skating events.
