Olympic champion Scott Hamilton’s connection to Boston has always been strong. Boston was his mother’s hometown, and Boston has long been a center of excellence in skating. In fact, Scott starred in Ice Chips for a number of years, thrilling local audiences with his one-of-a-kind showmanship. Importantly too, Boston is a global center of excellence for healthcare.
Healthcare is important to us all, and for Scott, healthcare and cancer survivorship, in particular, is personal. Scott’s mother passed away from metastatic melanoma, and Scott himself is a survivor of both testicular and brain cancers. Scott’s philanthropic work to turn cancer upside down could have no better leader, and the Club is once again proud to partner with Scott and his Foundation to demonstrate that the power of figure skating and its ability to do good extend well beyond the rink boards.
The Skating Club of Boston is now inviting all Club members to come together to support Sk8 to Elmin8 Cancer at the Club’s Grand Opening Celebration to Benefit the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation on December 2-4, 2021. This very special event will raise funds to support the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation and its mission to support cancer research, education and survivorship. Importantly, 50% of all funds raised will go directly to two of Boston’s own world-class medical institutions, Mass General Brigham and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
We encourage you to be a part of this very special benefit to help turn cancer upside down. In 2018, Club members raised a record-breaking $165,000 for the CARES Foundation. With your help, our goal is to raise $250,000 this year. Please join us!
