High Performance Program

High Performance Program
HP1240, the Club’s high performance program, is open to every Club skater with skating privileges at 1240 Soldiers Field Road. The program has been designed for these Club members interested in joining a team of like-minded skaters dedicating themselves to being the best possible skater they can be. The program is designed to enhance the Club’s current training environment for skaters of every test level, and who participate in every figure skating discipline, whether competitively or recreationally. For the purposes of this program, high performance is defined by a skater’s attitude and approach; not their test level, discipline of choice, or placement in competition.

As a competitive skater and coach, Simon Shnapir has demonstrated the vision, understanding, and ambition to take on the important role of program director, and to establish the Club’s program as inclusive, accountable, and inspiring. Simon is a long-time member of the Club, competing in both singles and pairs, until choosing to focus on his pairs skating. With Club member and partner, Marissa Castelli, Simon is the two-time U.S. Pair Champion, and the 2014 Olympic Bronze Medalist in the Team event. He understands the importance of attitude and approach in skating, and what dedication and commitment mean from his own experiences.

Simon has also worked with U.S. Figure Skating’s leadership for high performance training, and understands its significance at the local, national and international level.

Simon ShnapirAs Director of the HP1240 program, my mission is to educate Club athletes on what it takes to perform at the highest levels of figure skating, and to support their primary training and coaching with supplementary resources and guidance. The HP1240 program is here to help our skaters achieve their personal best results.

As a national, international and Olympic competitor, I have trained and competed with skaters in every discipline and from all over the world. These experiences drive my passion, and have shaped my high standards for success. I am excited to share what I have learned with Club skaters of every level. Together, through hard work and dedication, the HP1240 team will continue the legacy of The Skating Club of Boston as one of the elite national and international training centers.
