Deirdre Williams

Personal Profile:

I was formerly a member of The Skating Club of Boston where I skated until the age of 13 and then shifted from skating to dancing. Locally I danced at The Jeannette Neille Dance Studio. After graduating college from Boston University, I moved to New York City where I worked and studied as a dancer. Although I enjoyed performing, my favorite part of my time in New York was being accepted as a scholarship student at Steps on Broadway. It was at Steps where I could take daily classes from such dance icons as Desmond Richardson, Dwight Rhoden, Suzie Taylor, Matt Mattox, Joe Lanteri, Zena Rommett, Elena Kournikova and many more.

Formal Education:
Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston University

Coaching Philosophy:
My coaching philosophy is grounded in my experience as a dancer. No matter how high of a level you may reach technically, your daily practice always goes back to the simplest of exercises at the barre. I believe that the repetition of perfecting the simplest of moves lays the foundation for being able to explore and use more complex movements. I especially love to teach and instill a love for musicality and performing to my students at a young age. I feel this is an important piece to becoming a complete skater.

Coaching Since:
1993
