Always Champions Frozen 5K

Thursday, August 21st 6:00-9:00PM
Tenley E. Albright Performance Center

As part of the Always Champions campaign, The Skating Club of Boston is proud to host the Always Champions Frozen 5K, a community event dedicated to honoring the twenty eight U.S. Figure Skating members lost in the tragic crash of American Airlines Flight 5342, including the six cherished members of the Club community.

Taking place on Thursday, August 21st, the Frozen 5K brings skaters, supporters, skating clubs, and families together in celebration of the lives and legacies of Evgenia, Vadim, Christine, Spencer, Jin, and Jinna. All proceeds from the event support the creation of permanent memorials and scholarships that will benefit future generations of skaters. It’s a meaningful way to remember, reflect, and ensure that these remarkable individuals are Always Champions.

Create or Join a Team

Team member fundraising is also known as “peer-to-peer fundraising.” After you sign up, you can create your own page with a personal link to share, and any donations made through it will automatically count toward your total. If someone donates without using your link, they can still choose to credit you- it just takes an extra step.

  1. Head to the Frozen 5K Campaign Page
Start by visiting the main campaign page where all the action begins.
  2. Scroll to the “Team Members” Section
You’ll find this part of the page a little further down. This is where you’ll join the fun and become a fundraiser.
  3. Click “Fundraise”
This button lets you start setting up your own fundraising profile. It only takes a few minutes!
  4. Create Your Fundraiser Profile
    • Add your name, set a fundraising goal, and personalize your page. A few recommendations:
      • Add a photo! It makes your page feel more personal and helps boost support from friends and family.
      • Include a personal story! Write why the Always Champions campaign matters to you. It’s a powerful way to show people why you’re fundraising. Note this field will auto populate with a default story.
  5. Choose One of Two Options
    • Join a Team
If a team has already been created that you’d like to be part of, just search for the team name and join in!
    • Create a Team
Want to rally your own group of friends, family, or fellow skaters? Start your own team and invite others to join your cause.
  6. Register for the 5K
To officially activate your fundraiser, you’ll need to purchase a registration ticket. This ticket confirms your participation and is required. Good news- it also counts toward your fundraising goal!

Fundraising Tips and Tricks for Your Frozen 5K

Sponsor Per Lap

28 laps = 5K! Ask friends and family to pledge a donation per lap. At $25/lap, you’ll raise $700 by the finish line!

Sponsor Your Time

Challenge yourself with a time goal by turning your pace into a fundraising motivator! Example: “If I raise $1,000, I’ll complete the 5K in under 10 minutes.”

Match Donations

Encourage a friend, family member, or local business to match donations up to a certain amount! It instantly doubles the impact of every gift.

Incentives for Supporters

Offer small rewards to supporters. Social media shout-outs, handwritten thank-you notes, or short custom on-ice videos.

Harness the Power of your Non-Skating Community

You don’t have to skate to help! Ask friends, family, teachers, or neighbors to support your fundraising. They can donate, share your page, or even help you come up with fun ideas!

Do A Challenge

Get people excited by promising something silly or unexpected when you hit a goal. Like wearing an old costume for the day, doing a dance mid-rink, or posting a blooper reel.
