Jackie Tomsik

Personal Profile:
I was a competitive figure skater who included classical ballet and jazz dance as a necessary part of my training. I represented The Skating Club of Boston and was a five time Regional competitor, two time New England Novice Ladies Gold Medalist, two time Eastern Novice Ladies Competitor/Medalist, and US National Competitor. During those years, I was honored to be featured and be a soloist in the Skating Club of Bostons’ Ice Chips shows. Also, I received the Maribel Vinson Owen Club Award as a young skater.

After a serious back injury prevented me from skating, I began to pursue my equally passionate love for dance. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ithaca College with a BA in Speech Communication: Interpersonal Concentration and a double minor in French and Dance. I performed many feature roles in various Dance Concerts throughout my four years at Ithaca. Upon graduating, I pursued a professional career in Boston performing for Jeannette Neill, ACE Entertainment, and Disney’s premier of “Pocahontas” at the Wang Center, to name a few.

Currently, I coach skaters of all ages. I work with young skaters just starting out with private lessons, as well as, skaters who are working to improve their skating skills (Synchro) and Moves in the Field. I combine my knowledge of skating and extensive background in dance to provide a unique perspective on coaching the skater. I believe solid technique from the beginning is essential to the proper development of the skater. I work with many of my skaters off-ice concentrating on stretching, ballet and contemporary dance to enhance their on-ice training. When I am not at the rink, I love spending time with my family. One of my greatest joys is watching our son play College Lacrosse and our daughter perform on the College stage as a ballet dancer. I enjoy cooking, taking dance classes, and staying active.
