Madeline Wunder

Personal Profile:
Maddie’s love for skating began when she watched people brave the Cape Cod winter to skate on the pond behind her childhood home. She begged her mother to learn how to skate in the hopes that they could skate on the pond together. That year, her mother began her first of many drives to the local rink.

From the age of six, Maddie fell in love with skating. Over her fourteen-year career, her love, passion, and respect for the sport has grown exponentially. At the end of her competitive career, she discovered a new passion for teaching and giving back to the sport. It started with learn to skate, then private lessons between graduate school classes, and then became her happy place after work.

She attended Simmons College where she received a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Science in 2014 Magna Cum Laude and then went on to earn a doctorate degree in Physical Therapy in 2016. She currently works as an orthopedic and sports medicine physical therapist on the South Shore. She believes her background as a competitive skater and now coach has improved her ability to effectively communicate and teach both my patients in the clinic and students on the ice.

She was a member of the Medical Team at the 2014 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, 2016 ISU World Figure Skating Championships, and 2020 U.S. Eastern Singles Final and US Dance Final.

Outside of skating, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, going to the beach, and I love country music. A fun fact about me is that in sixth grade I won the Massachusetts state bronze medal in Small mouth bass fishing, I haven’t fished since!
