Phoebe Weston was a founding member of Yarmouth Ice Club and a dedicated volunteer of the New England Skating Community from 1970s until her sudden passing in January 2005. Phoebe was known for her ability to lead and assist New England figure skating clubs run successful events.
Phoebe served as secretary for both the New England Inter-Club Council (NEICC) and the Massachusetts Interclub Council. Her service to US Figure Skating included vice chair of both the Membership Committee and the Sanctions Committee. Phoebe was also a key volunteer for the 2001 U.S. Championships hosted by SC of Boston.
The Cranberry Open competition was created and developed into a premier event by Phoebe. She served as chair for the competition from 1980 through 2004. Additionally, she was co-chair for numerous New England Regional and Eastern Sectional Championships hosted by the Yarmouth Ice Club.
The Skaters Fund was established in memory of Phoebe. As the mother of international competitor, Wendy Weston Enzmann, Phoebe’s hope lives on to assist athletes and families who need financial help to reach their goals. Since its inception in 2005, the Skaters Fund has provided financial grants and scholarships to many athletes at all levels.
