The Junior Activities Committee (JAC) is a leadership and community service organization. The JAC organizes family-friendly events and special community projects within the Boston community and at the Club. Katharine Steeger and Caroline Depietri are mentors for the JAC.
A highlight of our 2018-2019 year was a fundraising campaign close to our hearts. The JAC raised several thousand dollars to donate to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in response to the passing of a beloved co-chair, Cleo Theodoropulos. The community came together to put on an exhibition and sell sweatshirts in her memory.
Who makes up the JAC?
Members of Club aged thirteen to nineteen!
What events does the JAC organize?
Every year the JAC events differ, but usually we host: Movie Night, the Halloween Party and Haunted House, the Holiday Pageant and Tea, the Mary Louise Wright (MLW) Silent Auction, the Girl Scouts Meet and Greet at Ice Chips, and the Annual Awards Night. We also have many exciting fundraisers and team bonding events for JAC members throughout the year!
Why should you join the JAC?
The JAC is a great opportunity for members to develop leadership and organizational skills. The skills learned will be used in college and their professional careers. Members are looked up to by younger skaters and are leaders within the club. Through fundraising and hosting events, the JAC truly makes an impact in the Club and Greater Boston community. Members also enjoy fun outings like kayaking or Boda Borg!
