Simon Shnapir

Personal Profile:
Simon, along with partner and fellow Club coach Marissa Castelli, is a 2014 Olympic Pairs team bronze medalist and two-time U.S. Pairs Champion (2013 & 2014). He is also a two-time World Team member and has a long career of national and international titles.

Marissa and Simon became a team in 2006 and trained at The Skating Club of Boston. Known for their larger than life lifts, daring twists and huge throw triple Axel, Simon’s height combined with Marissa’s daredevil wit, the team was always a crowd pleaser. Marissa and Simon together toured the world both as competitive skaters gracing the ice stage around the world at numerous international competitions including Four Continents, NHK Trophy, Ice Challenge, Skate America, and more. Marissa and Simon also toured with Stars On Ice and performed in the Smucker’s Skating Spectacular.

With over 20 years of competitive skating experience and 15 years of pair skating experience, Simon spent 8 years on Team USA as a pairs skater competing at multiple junior and senior international events and winning medals at World Juniors, Senior Grand Prix and Four Continents Championships. The peak of his competitive career culminated with two U.S. Championships titles in 2013 and 2014 and an Olympic Team Bronze Medal at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.

While competing Simon had the opportunity to begin his coaching career. Since then he has worked with skaters at the regional, sectional, national and international levels as well as with international pair teams. He is the coach of the 2025 U.S. Novice Pair Champions. Simon also works as a specialist with world renowned synchronized skating teams.

The cornerstones of success for any athlete are sound fundamentals, hard work and a positive attitude. I believe strongly in these ideals and instill them in my athletes on a daily basis. I also strive to guide my athletes to achieve success in both skating and in life beyond the sport through discipline, patience and resilience.
