Hello Club members!
I’d like to take a moment of your time to introduce myself and The Micheli Center as we are incredibly excited to be located within the Club. The Micheli Center was founded under the Division of Sports Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital. Prior to the establishment of the center, the main focus of the Sports Medicine clinic was, and is, to provide care to athletes by diagnosing and treating their injuries. With the alarming increase of sport-related injuries, the idea of The Micheli Center came to be, and its primary location opened in 2013 in Waltham. Having said all of this, it means our existence has two components: the sports medicine clinic and the gym/fitness center.
Our sports medicine clinic cares for individuals by appointment. While we will absolutely make every effort to have a skater seen the same day for an injury, there are some circumstances where this may be out of our control. Currently, a physician is scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, but there are instances where they may not have a clinic that day and/or they may not have availability. Additionally, a sports medicine clinic visit is insurance-based, and requires us to confirm that the insurance information provided is approved prior to being seen.
We share the gym/fitness center with the Club, and our services there consist of athletic trainers and strength and conditioning specialists who provide injury prevention assessments, and private and group strength training. This is an out-of-pocket expense and preventative in nature, meaning there is no treatment or triage of injuries.
Whatever reason you find yourself visiting our center, we will direct you to the best possible care. Stay tuned for more education and resources such as trainer meet-and-greets and tours. Please don’t hesitate to stop in to ask a question, email us at info@themichelicenter.com or give us a call at 781-216-0070.
Sincerely,
Jen Morse
