Club Update: May 7, 2021

Dear Member,

This is an even shorter, short update for your Captain’s log for May 7, 2021. If all continues to go well and COVID-19 continues to recede and we no longer are keeping track of cases at the Club, I can likely relieve everyone of a weekly email in their inbox. You’ll still be able to find important Club information in Saturday’s weekly planner. As a reminder, the weekly planner is an important publication designed to replace most emails from the Club. You should consider it your one planning guide for what is happening at the Club. And the opening quote alone should hopefully inspire your entire week ahead.

COVID-19 Update
We again had no reported cases of COVID-19 at the Club this past week. We also continue to have no evidence of any transmissions of the virus at the Club. To repeat from last week’s email, if you are now fully vaccinated and would like to supply Cheri with a copy of your vaccination card, it will exempt you from needing to show the Club a negative PCR test after having flown (in a plane). And yes, we all still need to complete the Club’s entry-screening form before entering the Club. It doesn’t matter whether we have been half or fully vaccinated. Managing the exceptions is not a practical matter.

As always, please contact Cheri Rigby directly if you have any questions regarding COVID-19 or in understanding the Club’s safety protocols. She can be reached at cheri.rigby@scboston.org.

Club Competition
Thank you to everyone who participated in last Sunday’s event, whether you were a skater, parent, official or volunteer. Thank you too, to the Club’s management team members who planned and ran the event. I was not able to attend, but I heard nothing but great things from everyone involved. There was one unfortunate accident and injury, and we wish that Club member a speedy and full recovery. Also, a very special thank you to Lydia McGill for the beautiful flowers welcoming everyone, and to everyone who signed the guest book for my mom. We have a very kind and thoughtful membership. I am very appreciative.

Summer Ice
Registration opened this past Monday. If you haven’t begun planning for summer ice, time is running short to get on the sessions you prefer most. The Club is growing, and summer ice is open to Club and non-Club members alike. You can find all the information you need, including the registration link, here. New this year is the option for Club members to pay for their ice monthly. We hope everyone enjoys the added convenience.

Awards Ceremony Reminder
As a final, final reminder to everyone, the annual Club Awards Ceremony is this evening, starting at 7:00 pm. We currently have more than 130 registrants, but there is room for more if you would still like to join us for this virtual celebration. Registration remains open and can be accessed here. We look forward to celebrating the Club’s members this evening with one of our great traditions. This may also be the last year that you can attend in your pajamas and enjoy a beverage of your choice without thinking about the drive home. I might even take myself up on that advice!

Enjoy your weekend, everyone.

Sincerely,

Doug Zeghibe
Executive Director
